Stephen first came to Kauai for a family summer vacation in 1970. The island did
not have any stoplights and sugar cane was in full production. “It was the most
exotic and beautiful place I had ever seen”.After graduating from UCSF School
of Dentistry, Stephen pursued private practice and teaching for several
years before taking a position as a systems engineer with a Silicon Valley start up.
After only three years, he founded Datastructure in downtown San Francisco
where his company provided custom designed software for companies such as
General Electric, Boeing, Exxon Mobil, and Merck Pharmaceuticals. In addition
to computer software, Stephen also designed and completed several residential
construction projects.
Moving to Kauai in 2001 was a major change in Stephen’s life. “I needed a new
adventure”. He foundedKauai Island Organics and grew organic fruit and produce
on his 20 acre Moloaa farm. He continued his real estate activities: buying,
restoring, and selling.
Joining Kauai Tropical Properties was a natural next step. “I wanted to work with
a great group of people, and I found that at Kauai Tropical Properties with owner
and founder Bill Gillette”. Stephen specializes in agricultural land, as well as
single family residential and condominiums. He also has SFR designation and
is experienced in short sales and foreclosures.
Stephen is on the Board of Directors of The Purple Striped Honu Theatre for
Kids, and is frequently seen volunteering for Women In Theater and Hawaii
Children’s Theater. He is a strong advocate of organic farming on Kauai
and supports the local growers. |
